Where do you find your deepest satisfaction?

Where do you find your deepest satisfaction?

In God, or in His gifts?

Most of us would like to say that God is enough. That we don’t need the material blessings of life to have joy in God.

But what if you had a Job like experience and everything you held dear to you in your life was suddenly gone? Health, family, home, money, all suddenly gone.

Would Jesus be enough for you?

Would you curse God or praise Him?

Would you say as Job said “Though He slay me I will trust Him?”

What we need in our souls above all physical healing and all financial security and all employment success and all career guidance and all relational harmony, is the divine help to see and savor the glory of God in Christ.

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.” (‭Habakkuk‬ ‭3‬:‭17-19‬ ESV)

O Lord, give us a hunger and thirst for you alone in our souls.
