To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul

“To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” (‭Psalm‬ ‭25‬:‭1-5‬)

What is it that your soul longs for? You can know the answer to that based on what you think about the most throughout the day. For most people it is more money, a promotion at work, time with children, more likes on their Instagram post, etc….

The problem with those worldly things is that they are all temporary pleasures. None endure over time.

David, the writer of the Psalm above understood that enduring love and joy can only be found in the Lord. So it was the Lord he longed for. It was to the Lord he lifted up his soul. His continual desire was to be in the presence of the Lord.

I pray that is also the desire of our souls. I pray that we would have a hunger and thirst in our souls for the Lord and that we would seek Him throughout the day in prayer and reading His Word, the Bible.

He is the One who brings enduring satisfaction to our souls.

He is the One who never disappoints those who trust in Him.

He is the One true God of salvation to all who trust in Him.
